Queen’s funeral Bank Holiday Monday: which supermarkets are open?

Roundup of opening times at Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Aldi and all the major supermarkets.

Shoppers should prepare for supermarkets to be closed or running limited hours on the day of the Queen’s funeral.

As a mark of respect, Tesco Asda, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Morrisons and Lidl have all confirmed they will not be operating normal shopping hours, with many not opening their doors at all.

Here’s a roundup of the major supermarket’s plans for the Queen’s funeral Bank Holiday Monday.

Note: a number of supermarkets have said they may open small stores that are on the funeral route. However, as this won’t be of use to the vast majority of households we’ve left it out of the individual descriptions below.

Aldi: all stores closed

No Aldi stores will open on the Queen’s funeral Bank Holiday.

Asda: stores will only open at 5pm

Asda’s 24-hour stores close at midnight on Sunday, with all stores re-opening at 17:00 on the Queen’s funeral Bank Holiday.

Lidl: all stores closed

No Lidl stores will open on the Queen’s funeral Bank Holiday.

Morrisons: all stores closed

No Morrisons stores will open on the Queen’s funeral Bank Holiday.

Sainsbury’s: larger stores closed, Locals open 5-10pm

While Sainsbury’s convenience stores and petrol stations will open between 5pm and 10pm on the Queen’s funeral Bank Holiday, other stores will remain closed all day.

Tesco: larger stores closed, Express open from 5pm-10pm

All larger stores will be closed all day on the Queen’s funeral Bank Holiday. Express stores will be open in the evening from 5pm-10pm
