Fancy £90 off a camera, flights for a fiver, pay as you go calls for 8p or 10% off new season knitwear? Look no further!
While August has so far been a bit of a washout -- with drab weather, depressing reports on the economy and summer's best sales tailing off -- this weekend should see us all smiling.
Why? Well, it's a bank holiday for a start. In my book, bagging an extra day off is always something to celebrate.
And of course there's a special selection of festive discounts and deals to be had, during this elongated end to the working week.
Gaming, gadgets and film
Surfing the net this morning in search of this weekend's best consumer bargains, I came across a selection of deals on Nintento Wii consoles.
The best offer I found (that would allow me to order today) was from Currys -- where gamers can currently buy the Wii console plus a free game of their choice (from a selection) for £179.99. Available games include Mario Kart, Lego Indiana Jones and Sega Superstar Tennis.
Argos also has an attractive offer on this stylish Philips mp3 player, half price at £24.99. With its 2GB memory it will store around 500 songs, and also has an FM tuner and video capability.
Anyone in need of a new camera may find themselves temped by PC World's offer on this Samsung P1000. With 10 mega pixel resolution, face recognition technology and a 2.5 inch LCD screen, it's been reduced by £90 -- so it's now a bargainous £89.99.
And pay as you go mobile customers might be excited by news of Asda's announcement on its phone tariffs. This week, calls to mobiles on other UK networks have been cut to 8p per minute (1p cheaper than Ikea's charge for loyalty card customers), while texts have been reduced in price to 4p. This means that Asda now offers the cheapest basic deal for anyone unwilling to sign up for a mobile phone contract.
Best of all, an Asda SIM will cost you just £2.48 right now, as they're half price -- great news for anyone wanting to cut the cost of their calls!
Finally, here are two offers on top films to keep you entertained during what is bound to be an inclement couple of days. This special edition of Master & Commander, starring Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany, is reduced to £2.99 at HMV.com. Also at HMV, you can get your hands on the Oscar-winning No Country For Old Men for just £6.99 -- that's £10 less than the RRP.
Handy homewares
If you're planning a spot of DIY or homewares hunting this weekend, there are a couple of sales worth checking out.
B&Q is holding a Going, going, gone event from Friday 22 to Monday 25 August. There'll be a variety of offers on selected items at your local store -- but once its stock of goods is gone (you guessed it) so are the discounts! Perhaps it's worth rising early to take advantage of this one.
If you'd prefer to shop from the comfort of your sofa, however, Tesco Direct has a huge selection of discounts available on DIY items, cookware, furniture and electrical goods as part of its 7 Day Mega Deals. If you order £50 worth of items, Tesco will deliver your order for free.
And at Woolworths, this deluxe inflatable bed is reduced by a whopping 75%, from £39.99 to £9.99. If you ever have friends to stay, it's handy to have one of these in your cupboard. I do, and it's been well used over the past year -- and I'm reliably informed it's very comfortable, too.
Travel
There's good news for travellers this weekend, too. Ryanair has a selection of `flights for £5', for use in October. You must book before midnight on Sunday 24 August, and the offer is limited to 2 million seats -- so get clicking!
Do be aware, though, that taxes and a credit/debit card charge will probably be added to your order -- so while the total cost of your flights should be low, it is likely to exceed £5.
If you're planning to take a trip within the UK, National Express has an offer which may prove handy. Right now, there are 25,000 coach seats (single, one way) available for a rather amazing £1. They can be used for travel between 18 August and 30 September, and booking is required by 14 September.
This last travel tip is great for anyone who's too forgetful to book their train tickets in advance. Sign up with Ticket Alert at Thetrainline.com, fill in the details of the journey(s) you intend to make, and the site will email you as soon as cheap advanced tickets become available for your trip. Genius!
Fashion, beauty and food
Ladies on the lookout for a new season bargain should head to Dorothy Perkins' website this weekend. If you buy any autumn/winter knitwear, a jacket or a coat, you'll get 10% off by entering the code AUTUMN at the checkout.
At Adams, there's 20% off childrenswear when you spend £40 or more this bank holiday weekend -- so if your little ones have outgrown their outfits, now could be the time to kit them out.
Meanwhile, at Play.com there's currently a huge selection of discounts on men's and women's clothing and accessories. There's up to 60% off selected items.
And if you're after a pair of designer sunglasses (yes, I know. But you can wear them next year!), head to House of Fraser this weekend. There's 50% off Ray Ban, Miu Miu, Gucci and Ralph Lauren shades.
Beauty product lovers may want to pop along to Boots this bank holiday. There's a round-up of available special offers here, but highlights include 50% off selected fragrances and 50% off selected electrical beauty items.
Finally, I'm pleased to report that M&S's two dine in for £10 deal is back -- cue another bank holiday scoffing session! Details of this weekend's menu can be found here.
Enjoy!
Offers which continue to be valid:
Anyone who loves Hugh Laurie's misanthropic doctor House might also love this next offer: WHSmith.co.uk has reduced this seasons one to three box set by a hefty 60%. It's down from £69.99 to £26.99, so fans will now get more medical mysteries for their money.
Blackleaf.com has a selection of Converse trainers with up to 50% off -- great news for anyone in need of a cheap and chic casual wardrobe update.
If you might be tempted by some luxurious lingerie, this next offer could be right up your street: Agent Provocateur is offering up to 50% off selected items in its underwear range.
Anyone looking to eat out this weekend might be interested in Handbag.com's 2 for 1 offer at Zizzi restaurants. Simply log on to the website, download your voucher and enjoy! The offer is valid from Sundays to Thursdays only, until 10 September.
Voucher code heaven can be found at myvouchercodes.co.uk, a website which lists a range of discount codes and printable vouchers to help you save on your everyday shopping. You may also want to check out codes.co.uk and hotukdeals.com.
