Get 10% off books, 75% off towels, 3 magazines for £1 and £7.50 off your weekly shop with this week's round-up of discounts and deals.

Well! What a crazy week it's been in the world of personal finance.

After everything that's happened in the past few days, it's likely that spending money won't be at the top of your `to do' list this weekend.

Nevertheless, Christmas is now approaching fast -- so why not check out our latest round-up of discounts and deals to see if you can get ahead with some smart shopping?

Discounted DVDs

As always, there's an array of offers on DVDs this weekend: good news if you're looking for something to help while away dark evenings, and for anyone stocking up on Christmas goodies.

Johnny Depp's grim performance as Sweeney Todd: Demon Barber of Fleet Street can now be enjoyed for less. The two-disc edition is now £6.99 at HMV.com, reduced by £6.

Also at HMV.com, George Clooney's critically acclaimed movie Good Night, and Good Luck is now a bargainous £2.99. I think that's a great price for a great film!

Elsewhere in HMV.com's massive sale, Friends fans can pick up the entire ten season box set for £69.99. That's every episode of the sitcom ever, for a whopping £130 less than the RRP! All together now: I'll be there for youuuuuuuu.

And if you're in need of more laughs to lighten the mood this weekend, here's a few more titles that might tempt you:

The box set of seasons one and two of Extras is currently available for just £7.99 at Zavvi -- £20 less than the RRP.

At Tesco Jersey, crazy comedy Superbad is on offer for £5. Buyers will save 75% off the RRP.

Finally, fellow indie flick Juno is available for £6.99 from Play.com -- £13 less than the RRP.

Entertainment

If you're a magazine fan, you could get your hands on three copies of selected BBC titles for just £1! This offer is available if you sign up for a subscription, and titles on offer include Olive, Good Food, Gardeners' World and Top Gear.

You'll need to sign up for a six-month deal to benefit from this offer, however -- so make sure that if you don't want to continue receiving the magazine after the first three copies have been sent, you cancel your subscription and direct debit.

If you're after an iPod docking station, this Acoustic Solutions iPod System might be right up your street. It's now half price at £19.99 from Argos.

Bookworms can benefit from 10% off purchases at Waterstones.com right now. Just quote the code GG6000 at the checkout. The offer only lasts until 21 September, though -- so if you're interested, get clicking!

Fashion and accessories

Style magazines might be packed with pictures of full-priced fashion, but there are one or two places you can still bag clothing bargains.

At MandMDirect, you'll still find up to 75% off selected items. Available brands include Adidas, Bench and Oakley.

Meanwhile, Dorothy Perkins is still offering 20% off everything as part of its VIP event, which continues until 21 September. Online shoppers should buy via this special link to claim their money off, while those buying in store should print this voucher and take it along to their nearest branch.

Anyone after lingerie or nightwear might be tempted by La Senza's special offers this weekend. There's currently a buy one, get one free deal on pyjama sets -- perfect for any ladies already starting to feel the autumnal evening chill. Also, shoppers can pick up two bras for £20 or five pairs of knickers for £10.

Finally, Amazon is offering a range of discounts across every department -- from sports and leisurewear to shoes, camera equipment, electronics and homewares.

Homewares, beauty and gifts

If it's household goodies you're after, BHS's half-price homewares event might be worth checking out. There's up to 50% off selected furniture, bedding, kitchenware and lighting.

Elsewhere, Christy is once again offering up to 50 - 75% off selected ranges of towels. My favourite is the neutral Sorrento range, now half price.

To celebrate the release of its new catalogue, Tesco Direct shoppers will receive double clubcard points on any purchases made up until midnight on 28 September.

Alternatively, if you're grocery shopping at Tesco.com this weekend, enter the code XXKHGJ at the checkout to receive a discount of £7.50 on your goods. This voucher code is valid on orders delivered on or before 5 October.

Finally, at Boots.com there's currently a 3 for 2 offer on selected toys and gifts -- as well as 3 for 2 deals on a wide range of beauty and skincare products.

Have a fun and Foolish weekend!

Offers which continue to be valid:

Fans of gaming can currently bag a Wii Console plus free Mario Kart game and extra wheel from Shopto, all for the standard console price of £179.99.

Fans of Sex and The City will be pleased to know that Sex and the City: The Movie hits the shelves later this month. You can pre-order the film from both Amazon and Play.com for just £9.99.

Right now, all five series of hit comedy Peep Show can be yours for £15.99 at HMV. And, if that's not enough of the comedy duo, why not get your hands on That Mitchell and Webb Look, series one for just £4.43 at The Hut.

And if you weren't lucky enough to pick up a dongle last time round, 3 is still offering its 18 month 5GB dongle package for £7.50 a month, half the normal price of £15. Surf away!

Meanwhile, anyone looking to get hold of this year's Mercury Prize-winning album, Elbow's The Seldom Seen Kid, should log on to HMV.com, where's it's available at £6.99. That's the cheapest price I've found online.

Voucher code heaven can be found at myvouchercodes.co.uk, a website which lists a range of discount codes and printable vouchers to help you save on your everyday shopping. You may also want to check out codes.co.uk and hotukdeals.com.

And Amazon fans looking for a bargain should take note of Price Cut Review, a nifty website that lists all current Amazon products selling at half price or less.
