Time is running out to earn up to 20,000 bonus Avios with the Lloyds TSB Duo credit cards.
The Avios bonus offers on the Lloyds TSB Duo Avios Credit Cards will come to an end in a few days.
To be eligible for the 15,000 Avios available on the Lloyds TSB Duo Avios Credit Card or the 20,000 Avios with the Lloyds TSB Premier Duo Avios Credit Card you have to apply before 15th September.
So if you’re looking to get a helping hand racking up some Avios points, you will have to move soon.
But what else can the cards offer?
Lloyds Duo
Both the Lloyds TSB Duo Avios Credit Card and the Lloyds TSB Premier Duo Avios Credit Card come with a MasterCard and an American Express card, which help you earn Avios on your everyday spends.
With the Lloyds TSB Duo Avios Credit Card you can collect one Avios per £1 spent on the American Express and one Avios per £5 spent on the MasterCard.
With the Lloyds Premier Duo Avios Credit Card you can get even more. You can collect 1.25 Avios per £1 spend on the American Express and 1.25 Avios per £5 spend on the MasterCard. The card also offers the chance to get a worldwide companion ticket if you manage to spend £15,000 each year. But for these extra benefits you will have to pay an annual fee of £50.
If you apply before 15th September you can get 15,000 bonus Avios on the Lloyds TSB Duo Avios Credit Card or 20,000 on the Lloyds TSB Premier Duo Avios Credit Card, but only if you spend £500 a month for the first three months on the American Express part of the duo.
Both cards offer the chance to earn double points when you spend abroad and both come with six months interest free on balance transfers. You can get 1,500 Avios for every £1,000 balance you transfer from a single provider. However, you will have to pay a balance transfer fee of 3% on what you move over to the card. If you're serious about clearing debt, you could get a better deal elsewhere. Check out our best 0% balance transfer credit cards article for more.
What you can get with Avios
So what can racking up all these Avios get you?
[SPOTLIGHT]Avios can be converted into a variety of rewards including days out, experiences, Eurostar travel, Disneyland Paris trips, travel insurance, and car hire. But most people like to use the points to get free flights and flight upgrades.
With Avios destinations from around the world are divided into nine geographical zones with each costing a specific number of points to travel to. Take a look at the Avios Zone Map for more details.
Between 9,000 and 30,000 Avios you can get a one-way ticket to almost anywhere on the globe with only the taxes and fees to pay. From 15,000 Avios you can get a return flight to over 70 Western European destinations.
So as you can see the Lloyds TSB offer is pretty generous as you can get at least a return flight with the fee-free Duo or the chance to travel further or use the points for two one-way flights with the Premier Duo.
Other ways to earn Avios
If you don’t manage to apply for either of the Lloyds TSB cards before 15th September there are still other ways you can boost your Avios points balance.
With the British Airways American Express Credit Card you can earn 1.25 Avios for every £1 you spend and if you manage to spend £500 in the first three months with the card you’ll get a bonus of 3,000 Avios. Plus if you manage to use the card for £20,000 worth of purchases each year you can get a complimentary companion voucher, which is valid for 12 months. This card is fee-free so as soon as you start spending you can start to reap the rewards.
But if you’re willing to pay £150 a year the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Credit Card is much more generous. You can earn 1.5 Avios for every £1 spend with the card or three Avios for every £1 spend on BA flights and if you manage to spend £3,000 in the first three months you'll get a bonus of 18,000 Avios. Also if you spend £10,000 in a year you can get a complimentary companion voucher valid for 24 months.
With these credit cards you earn Avios via the British Airways Executive Club. This is a seperate scheme for frequent flyers but the Avios accrued here can be transferred to the central scheme later.
