This week's highlights include the complete box set of Cold Feet for £18, 85% off books, 50% off Le Creuset cookware, and a 2 for 1 deal on rail travel...

This article was first sent to readers as a 'Frugal Friday' email.

Well, it looks like freezing temperatures are set to hit the UK again this weekend. Brr! So here are some top bargains to help brighten things up a little....

Books, games, homewares and gadgets

First up this week, there are still bags of hot deals at Waterstones. So if you don't want to venture outside in the cold, you can keep warm with a good book instead. There's 40% off a range of children's books as well as 40% off best new releases. Thomas Buergenthal's story of survival after being imprisoned in Nazi camps, A Lucky Child, is available for just £9 (RRP £15).

WHSmith is still offering 85% off selected titles including the Healthy Eating book of recipes for £3.69, saving you a whopping £21.31! There's also buy one get one free on a range of paperbacks and £1 annuals.

If you'd rather spend the weekend improving your gaming skills, the wonderfully creative Little Big Planet is available for the PS3 for just £16.99 at DVD.co.uk. That's a massive £33 saving!

Moving swiftly into the kitchen, there are some marvellous deals to be had on kitchen gadgets this week. This sophisticated Russell Hobbs black matt toaster has £22 off, at £18 from Tesco Direct. And, one of my favourites -- this gorgeous 5 piece Le Creuset cast iron, stoneware and spatula set has almost £70 off at Amazon, at just £80. You could do some serious cooking with that! What a bargain!

Fashion and beauty

If you're still hoping to get your hands on a great bargain in the sales, a number of high street stores are still offering some fabulous deals. Here's a few of the best:

If you're looking for some new beauty products in preparation for Valentine's Day in a couple of weeks, Avon is also offering up to 75% off selected items right now. This fabulous range of Colour Trend Kiss `n' Go lipsticks is now just 99p!

What's more, if you spend £20 or more online, you'll get free delivery (worth £3.95). Just enter the code LS at the checkout.

Eating out

Sadly, many of the fantastic restaurant offers that have been around this month are starting to die out. That said, there are still enough good deals to stop you from going hungry, and hopefully we'll see more in February.

For just £5 you can enjoy any main meal at All Bar One (except the tapas range) with this voucher until 12 February. Gourmet Burger Kitchen is also offering a 2 for 1 deal on main meals every Monday-Friday until 19 February. Simply print out this voucher and bring it along with you.

And Cafe Rouge is continuing its 2 for 1 deal on main meals every Sunday to Thursday until 5 February. Just print out this voucher.

Alternatively, if you'd rather just go down to your local pub, Youngs brewery is offering a great deal in which two people can dine for £20. The offer includes two courses and a bottle of wine and is valid from 5pm on Sundays and all day Monday-Thursday until 26 February. You can find your nearest pub and print out the relevant voucher here.

If you want to go a bit more upmarket, the plush Hotel Du Vin chain is offering a fantastic deal which should be snapped up -- two courses, a bottle of wine and coffee, all for just £29 for two! Do note though that this deal is not valid Saturday evenings or Valentine's weekend. It runs until 31 March and you can get your voucher here.

But if you'd simply prefer to stay at home and celebrate the Chinese New Year, Marks and Spencer is currently offering a deal for the whole of Chinese New Year in which you receive a free bottle of wine when you buy a Chinese meal box set for two. And you can pick up a Chinese meal box for just £6.99!

Other offers

Spring might still seem a long way away, but if you fancy getting your garden ready for a spot of sunshine, Wyevale Garden Centres is offering 10% off EVERYTHING online until 28 January. Just enter the code JANFEBWYE at the checkout.

And if you are planning to pay a visit to some friends or family over the coming weeks, you might be interested to hear that from next week the Sun will be offering a 2 for 1 deal on nationwide rail travel. All you have to do is collect four tokens from the newspaper between Monday (2 February) and next Saturday (7 February) and book your trip! Just make sure your outward journey falls between 12 February and 5 April 2009. Do note this won't be valid for every rail journey.

Offers that continue to be valid

For just £19 return, P&O Ferries is offering you a day trip to Calais, and throwing in six bottles of wine for free! Just book before 12 February and travel before 31 March.

Lovefilm is still offering two free cinema tickets if you sign up to a 14 day trial -- just enter the code LFTD14CINE.

Have a bargain-filled weekend!

Don't forget: although all prices and discounts were correct on the day this email was sent out, offers this good are subject to change and often sell out quickly.
