Barclaycard launches longest-ever 0% balance transfer credit card again

You can now avoid interest on your credit card debt for an incredible 32 months with Barclaycard's revamped Platinum Visa.

Barclaycard has launched the longest ever 0% credit card, charging no interest on balance transfers for an incredible 32 months.

It comes with a transfer fee of 2.99%.

Barclaycard has added a month of 0% interest to both of its top Platinum Visa cards, so borrowers can also take advantage of a 31-month 0% Platinum card, this time with a lower fee of 2.89%.

Credit card war

Barclaycard has wasted little time re-establishing both cards at the top of the balance transfer best buy table. Halifax was the latest lender to throw down the gauntlet, moving its 0% period up to 31 months on Friday, at that point making it the joint-longest deal around.

However, over the last couple of years Barclaycard has shown a steely determination to always offer the longest 0% deals, so its reaction should come as little surprise.

Other options

[SPOTLIGHT]However, given you can’t move debt between two cards from the same provider, if a Barclaycard is out of the question for you there is a huge number of options now offering more than two and a half years free from interest on your credit card debt.

And if you can pay your debt off much quicker, then be sure to check out The best low-fee balance transfer credit cards. With these cards you can enjoy a balance transfer fee as low as 0.65% if you can clear your debt in a year.

With all these 0% deals, be aware that you may get a reduced 0% period, or you may face a higher APR once the interest-free time is over. This is because, by law, providers only have to offer their top deals to 51% of successful applicants. What you will be offered will depend on your credit rating.

Whichever card you go for, make sure you pay off at least the minimum repayment each month, otherwise you'll lose the 0% deal and get a black mark on your credit score. And try to pay off your balance by the time the interest-free period comes to an end.
