Morrisons has cut costs for customers again by offering permanent price reductions on 135 more products.
In April, Morrisons announced a range of price cuts on 1,200 items. From today (23rd June 2014) customers could save in its stores with further cuts on 135 items.
It stresses that these are permanent changes, not just limited-time discounts. Chief Executive Dalton Philips has also said that they “won’t be the last” in Morrisons' price cuts campaign.
The supermarket is also trialling a loyalty scheme as part of its £1bn pledge to improve operations and reduce prices for customers over the next three years.

What has been reduced?
Prices have been cut an average of 14% across a mix of own-brand and big-brand products, predominantly grocery and household items.
Among the reductions are Morrisons’ own brand ‘M’ peeled plum tomatoes and chips, Rocky Bars and cat food. Here are some examples of the new prices:

Morrisons’ cuts come at a time when competition in the supermarket sector is particularly high. Sainsbury’s and Nettos have just announced that they will be teaming up to take on discounters like Aldi and Lidl in the UK.
The ONS reported in May that food prices across the board had fallen by 0.6% over the previous 12 months.

How the prices compare
An eight-pack of Rocky Bars also costs £1 at Asda, and is currently discounted to 79p at Tesco.
Whiskas Fish Choice 12x100g is already £3.50 at all other major supermarkets, while Asda and Sainsbury's offer a multibuy offer where you can buy 2 for £5.
Allinson's white flour costs less at Morrisons than Tesco, Sainsbury's and Waitrose, but Asda is selling it for 25p less.
Morrisons is leading the pack with the lowest price on tinned tuna steak in spring water, but only by around 11p. These cuts clearly aren't worth going out of your way for, but are good news for regular Morrisons shoppers.
