Current Discounts And Deals #45
The weather this Bank Holiday might not be hot, but this week's discounts and deals most definitely are...
After a delightful May Day Bank Holiday and some positive predictions for this weekend, I was keenly expecting a sun-soaked three days off, starting Saturday.
Much to my dismay, however, those pesky weather-watchers have changed their minds. Apparently, most of us are in for that classic British combination of chilly air, cloudy skies and rain. Pah!
Never one to be defeated, I have trawled the web for the best discounts and deals to help you (and me) enjoy a couple of cosy days in.
Shop From Your Sofa
First up, Dorothy Perkins is offering 20% off clothes and accessories in conjunction with Closer magazine. If you want to shop in store, simply buy a copy of this week's issue (dated 20 May). Fill in and cut out the voucher inside, then present it at the till to claim your reduction.
Those of you unwilling to brave the rain can enjoy the same discount online by going to www.dorothyperkins.com/closer and entering your email address.
If its cosmetics you're interested in, Boots has a new offer that might tempt you. There's 10% off all make-up this weekend -- including products from premium brands such as Benefit, Lancôme and Yves Saint Laurent. The offer applies both online and in stores.
Elsewhere, there are some top discounts available on homewares this weekend. Debenhams is continuing its Home Style Festival, with 20% off seasonal ranges of china, cookware and furnishings. Offers last until 4 June.
Meanwhile, designer furniture emporium The Conran Shop is offering up to 50% off selected items in its sale. Best of all, you can order from both stores online.
There are also plenty of opportunities for gadget lovers to save this weekend. PC World is offering over £100 off this Nikon Coolpix camera, which has 8 million pixels and a 2.5 inch screen. It's down to £99.
And Currys is offering discounts on a variety of products in its Bank Holiday sale. These I Want It iPod speakers are reduced by £15, to £24.99.
Refusing to be outdone, Dixons is offering up to 50% off a variety of electrical goods in its Bank Holiday Deals.
Get In The Game
This next one will be popular with the boys. Ladies, if you object to your other half becoming a front-room footie mogul, look away now...
Softuk.com is offering a variety of hefty discounts on computer games and consoles, including Football Manager 2008, now £16.99 with £23 off.
Elsewhere, Zavvi is offering £30 off the super-entertaining Guitar Hero 3, now £45. Time to start practising that rock stance everyone!
There are some fantastic offers on DVDs this week, too. Dvd.co.uk (as part of a "cunning plan"?) has slashed the price of its Complete Blackadder boxed set by £30. It's now a bargainous £29.95 for all four seasons, plus the specials.
Younger viewers (and big kids) can also enjoy the first four Harry Potter films for £12.89 by buying the boxed set from Sendit.com - saving £17.10 off the RRP.
The rom-com romp Music & Lyrics is also available for just £1.99 from HMV.com this week. Lucky viewers will save £16 on the film -- and get to see Hugh Grant do his best Wham! impression into the bargain.
And anyone looking to while away the bank holiday watching vintage flicks might be interested in this The Best Of Marilyn boxed set. It includes three classic films, plus a documentary about the blonde bombshell's life. Best of all, Amazon has reduced it by more than 70%, to a cheap and cheerful £6.97.
If you're keen to do all this gaming and DVD-watching on a big (well, huge) screen, you might be interested in this Toshiba 40 inch HD TV from Currys. It's still expensive at £699, but the original price has been cut by a whopping £300.
Flights And Food
And just because you're vegging out this weekend, it doesn't mean you have to turn to junk food. M&S is currently offering a Meal For Two deal. Choose 2 main meals, 2 vegetable sides, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine from a special selection, for just £10! The offer is only available in store, and runs until Monday.
Finally, if the weather really gets you down, you could find yourself dreaming of sunnier climes. Luckily, Easyjet is offering 100,000 plane seats at £19.99 in its May sale. Seats are available on every route from the UK, and the offer ends on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, Expedia is offering 40% off stays in selected USA hotels, and Lastminute.com is offering a wide variety of discounts on holidays, city breaks and flights as part of its summer sale.
Have a great weekend!
