The Newest Version Of Fool.co.uk Is Live!
We've launched our new website! What do you think?
We're pleased to announce the release of our new website! It's the result of a lot of hard work, and we believe it will help us continue to be the top financial destination on the web.
So what's new? And what's in it for me?
We've given the site a visual refresh with more colour and a cleaner, wider layout. We've also brought in some new typefaces that look better on screen, which should make it easier to read articles and product tables.
This new look and feel of the site is a work in progress, the product of six months of sketching, discussing, designing, and redesigning again. It's also the result of some fairly direct feedback: we emailed 5,000 of you and got in a few groups to talk about the existing look and feel of the site, and where we could take it. This design is what we came up with. We hope you like it.
The biggest change: a new navigation
Remember the old tabs that ran across the top of your screen? We ran information-sorting exercises with current and future users, and listened to what you had to say about where things should go. When we asked people what they wanted, one of the comments we heard most often was "It's hard to find things on your site -- some of the best stuff is hidden!"
We took this feedback on board, and the result is a new navigation that's designed to make it easier to find what you want.
New additions: content, comparison and services pages
If it does nothing more, a website should help you get the information you want, with minimal hassle. We've now got three new pages, each a doorway to specific content: latest stories hub, financial comparison hub, and a services hub to promote our Mortgage Service.
Anything new in these areas will hit the hub page first, so you know these pages are always stocked with the latest news and information.
What's next for Fool.co.uk
We're taking a step-by-step approach to changes, developing new things in smaller pieces so we can release them to you more frequently (and improve them once we get your feedback). Today's change is step one in a process to develop Fool.co.uk further. We understand that is what our users expect, and we're keen to hear more about what you want.
We've already released Tagging in Beta and the new arrangement of the navigation has left some space for more surprises over the coming weeks and months. So in the future you'll see new pages and tools that focus more on you and your community, as you find on Facebook, MySpace and other social networking sites.
We're not trying to reinvent ourselves, and we're not going to let go of any of the things that make us unique and successful. We're building on that -- and beginning on a journey to make our site an even better place to spend time.
Have a suggestion?
Whilst we have a general idea of where we're going with the site, we will take on board any feedback we get as we move forward with improvements. If you have feedback, please email us, post your thoughts on the boards, or leave a comment at the end of this article.
