Current Discounts And Deals #52
The summer sales have started! Get 90% off shoes, 80% off suits and shirts, 70% off CDs, DVDs and games, and 50% off homeware and beauty products. You just need to know where to shop...
According to a good friend of mine -- and the Stone Henge website -- today marks the British summer solstice.
For music lovers and hedonists, this might mean attending seasonal gigs and festivals. For druids and pagans, on the other hand, more traditional forms of celebration will perhaps be in order.
For shoppers, however, hitting this point in the season can mean only one thing: SALES!
Super Sale Shopping
Since this week's earlier edition of Money Saving Tips, the high street has gone price-cutting crazy. Many of your favourite shops have now slashed up to 50% off thousands of goods -- and there's bound to be something everyone needs (or wants) in the mix.
Women's clothing stores Warehouse and Oasis have both begun their summer sales -- and, as a few of us here in The Motley Fool's HQ can testify, some of the discounts are delightful.
Urban Outfitters has also broadened the scope of its sale to include items from its designer boutique -- so there are bargains to be had from brands such as See By Chloe, Twenty8Twelve and Paul And Joe Sister. At the same time, offers on own-brand products continue.
Shoppers will also find discounts at Dorothy Perkins, Miss Selfridge, Principles and H&M this weekend.
Footwear fanatics should check out The Shoe Studio, where there's currently up to 50% off shoes, sandals, boots and accessories. Amazon is also offering 90% off selected clearance footwear, while Faith is continuing it 50% off sale. Elsewhere, Jones Bootmaker has reduced selected lines by 50%.
If it's department store shopping you're interested in, both Debenhams and House of Fraser are offering discounts of up to 50% off a wide variety of clothing, homewares and electrical goods.
Gents looking for a bargain would do well to check out The Savile Row Co., London -- there's up to 80% off selected shirts, polo tees and suits.
Discounts on childrenswear can be found at Adams this week, while beauty product junkies will get up to 50% off when they buy selected lines at The Body Shop.
And for anyone who loves their lingerie, the clearance sale at Figleaves.com is worth a look -- there's up to 70% off undies for both men and women.
Finally, both Currys and Argos have discounted a wide range of items in their summer sales.
Blimey!
Movie Madness
Anyone looking to while away the weekend watching films can also benefit from the wave of deep discounting that seems to have swept the nation.
Leading the way is HMV: it's monster sale means there's up to 70% off a massive range of CDs, DVDs, box sets and games.
The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe will keep the kids happy on Sunday afternoon, for a bargainous £3.99 (£14 off the RRP!). And anyone in the mood for a weepie should consider watching the brilliant Atonement -- now discounted from £19.99 to just £4.99.
Meanwhile, fans of morbid crime serials (Mum, are you reading this?) will probably find themselves getting goosebumps at the thought of this next offer: Cracker, The Complete Collection is now available for £24.99 from HMV.com. Buyers will get to watch 11 discs full of scary stuff, and save a huge £95 off the RRP!
Elsewhere, uWish.co.uk is offering this box set of three famous action films for £5.96 -- that's less than £2 per movie! The films included are I, Robot, Minority Report and Independence Day, representing a great mixture of the silly and the sinister.
Woolworths is also playing the price-cutting game this weekend. Classic Brit flick Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels is on offer for just £2.97 -- that's 83% off the RRP. And Bioshock, surely one of the most surreal computer games ever released, is also available for the Xbox 360 at less than half price. It's now a cheap and cheerful £14.97.
As if all that weren't good enough, those lovely people at Asda have once again discounted a brand of posh ice cream -- the perfect partner for an afternoon of fun films. Tubs of Haagen Dazs are now available for £2 each... So I suppose the diet will have to start on Monday!
Homewares Heaven
If you thought those looking for homewares were going to be left disappointed by this weekend's bumper Money Saving Tips, think again!
Discounts can be found at both Debenhams and House of Fraser, but there are a few additional treats in store.
Royal Doulton has discounted selected ranges of crockery and glassware by up to 50% -- perfect for anyone wanting to invest in posh dishes at penny-pinching prices. My favourite find is this 20 piece Blue Ripple set -- it's half price at £45, and sure to impress anyone who pops round for tea.
Lidl is also offering a variety of discounts on a range of home essentials, cocktail ingredients and kitchenware from the start of next week -- great for anyone who needs to stock up on necessities or is planning a dinner party.
Finally, I think Christy's mammoth towels sale is deserving of a second MST mention. There's now up to 70% off its Fairtrade range and up to 75% off its Plush Supima range -- an offer not to be missed. In fact, I ordered some this morning...
Have a fun and Foolish weekend!
Offers Which Continue To Be Valid:
Coldplay fans yet to buy the band's latest release, Viva La Vida, will find it for £6.99 at CDWow.com, delivery included -- that's a whopping saving of £9 off the RRP.
And lovers of indie-flicks who are dying to get hold of hit movie Juno on DVD should consider visiting Zavvi this week. The film is available for £12 delivered from its website -- that's the best deal I've found on the web, and a saving of £7.99 off the RRP.
Festival-goers might be interested in this six man Coleman Wyoming tent, reduced from £250 to £99 at WorldOfTents.co.uk... It should keep you clean and dry, despite the inevitably inclement British weather.
Elsewhere, Foolish coffee-lovers could find themselves tempted by this Philips Senseo Silver coffee maker. Amazon has slashed 50% off the normal price -- so a bargainous £30 will buy you fresh coffee, whenever you want it!
Voucher code heaven can be found at myvouchercodes.co.uk, a website which lists a range of discount codes and printable vouchers to help you save on your everyday shopping. You may also want to check out codes.co.uk.
And Amazon fans looking for a bargain should take note of Price Cut Review, a nifty website that lists all current Amazon products selling at half price or less.
