Bargain booze for the festive season!

Whether you're holding a Christmas party or would just like to get stocked up for the festive season, here's a rundown of the supermarkets' best wine, beer and sparkling wine deals available at the moment, including half-price champagne, three bottles of wine for £10, 18 Stella for £10.

Having a Christmas or New Year's party? Need to stock up on some tipples for the festive season? Then you're no doubt probably dreading a hefty bill. After all, we all know that unless you have the time and inclination to pop over to France on a "booze cruise" the cost of alcholol here is often prohibitively expensive.

Fortunately, some of the supermarkets appear to holding price wars, hacking back the cost of alcohol and meaning you can snap up even big brand names for bargain prices.

Check out the best offers I've come across - you might just save yourself a few quid this Christmas.

Champagne and sparkling wine

Christmas and the New Year aren't the same without a bit of fizz, but it can be expensive.

The good new is, Sainsbury's is currently offering a whopping 25% off if you buy six bottles of wine or champagne until 8 December 2009 (usually this commands just a 5% discount) which is given on top of any individual discounts. And Tesco has a number of offers that end on 13 December.

Wine

As mentioned, Sainsbury's is offering 25% off if you buy 6 bottles of wine until 8 December 2009.

You can currently snap up Hardys VR Shiraz for just £4 a bottle (reduced from £5.49) and First Cape First Selection Chardonnay for just £3.99 (reduced from £7.99 a bottle) at Sainsbury's. It is also offering 50% off First Cape First Selection Chardonnay (£3.99, from £7.99) and Heritage Road Chardonnay (reduced from £9.99 to £5).

Tesco has Ernst & Julio Gallo Turning Leaf Cabernet Sauvignon for £5.09 (reduced from £7.99) and has 50% off Rawnsley Estate Cabernet (now £4.99, reduced from £9.99). It's also offering Chateau de Ligny Chablis for £6.99 (reduced from £8.99).

For bargain wine deals you can't beat Asda, with its 3 bottles for just £10 wine deal including Hardy's Nottage Hill Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay (normally £7.48 each).

Meanwhile, Ocado will give £5 off if you buy two bottles of Bonterra Vineyards Organic Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay. It's also offering Lindemans Chardonnay Winemakers release for £5.99 (reduced from £7.99) and Andre Tremblay Chablis for just £9.99 (reduced from £14.99).

Spirits

Snap up 1 litre bottles of Smirnoff vodka at Asda for £14 (reduced from £16.84) or 700ml bottles of Absolut vodka for £12.98 in Tesco (reduced from £15.59).

Sainsbury's has the cheapest 1 litre bottles of Baileys at £10 (reduced from £14), while 700ml bottles of Cointreau and Southern Comfort on offer at £14 each. Malibu and Tia Maria (700ml) are each £10 (reduced from £13.50).

One litre bottles of Bombay Sapphire gin are £14 (reduced from £23.61) in Asda. And Tesco is also offering Jose Cuervo tequilas for £10.69 (reduced from £12.49).

Incidentally, if you need a gift for dad, practically all of Tesco's single malt whiskies are on offer at the moment!

Beer

Asda currently has 18x284ml bottles of Stella Artois for £10, or you can buy two packs for £16. It's also offering Becks Bier (18x275ml) for £9.98 (or two packs for £15).

Tesco has 12x330ml Peroni multipacks for £11 (reduced from £12.99) and you can buy two Carlsberg multipacks (15x440ml) for £16 (Asda has the same offer for Fosters).

Sainsbury's is offering Budweiser multipacks (15x330ml) for £10 or two for £16, and Carling multipacks for £10 (15x440ml) or two packs for £14 (Ocado has the same offer).

Ales

Sainsbury's has Boddingtons multipacks (15x440ml) for £10 each or two packs for £14, and Old Speckled Hen multipacks (8x500ml) for £8 (reduced from £9.99).

Asda is offering John Smiths multipacks (15x440ml) for £10 or two packs for £16 (Tesco goes one better and offers two packs for £15!) and Greene King IPA (4x500ml) for £3 (reduced from £3.91).

Soft drinks and mixers

And all of the supermarkets have various offers for soft drinks and mixers for your designated drivers!
