SSE to cut gas prices by 4.1%, but not until April

Updated on 26 January 2015 | 0 Comments

Fifth ‘big six’ energy supplier to announce price reduction.

SSE has announced it will cut the cost of gas on its standard tariff by 4.1%, but not until 30th April.

Perhaps as an attempt to make up for this, SSE has pledged not to raise prices on gas or electricity until at least July 2016.

SSE is the fifth of the ‘Big Six’ energy companies to announce a cut this month, however its customers have the longest to wait until it comes into effect.

After Easter SSE customers will save an average of £28 a year based on typical gas usage.

Around three million households on SSE’s standard variable tariff, including those on dual fuel and gas only tariffs, will benefit from the cut.
