Survey reveals extra costs we loathe.
Unreasonable parking charges, withdrawal fees for taking cash out of ATMs and card surcharges have topped a list of the UK’s most despised fees and charges.
Direct Line Car Insurance asked just over 2,000 people to name the fees and charges they most loathed.

1) Unreasonable parking charges
2) ATM cash withdrawal fees
3) Debit/credit card surcharges added to things such as plane and concert tickets
4) Public toilet charges
5) Compulsory tipping/automatically added service charges
6) Ticket booking fees
7) Bank overdraft fees
8) Passport renewal/replacement/update charges
9) Mobile phone roaming charges
10) Insurance policy amendment/update charges
How the generations differed
[SPOTLIGHT]Younger people aged 18-34 were most angered by ATM fees, public toilet charges and debit/credit card surcharges.
Meanwhile, the most hated charges for people aged 35-54 were parking charges, ATM fees and public toilet charges, while people aged 55 or over cited parking charges, debit/credit card surcharges and compulsory tipping as their three biggest bugbears.
Almost half of the people surveyed said these fees and charges shouldn’t be charged at all. Just under a third said they felt these charges were disproportionately high.
