The best deals on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

Here’s a roundup of the top pay monthly and handset-only prices for the latest Samsung handset.

Samsung is launching an even bigger and more powerful version of its Galaxy S6 Edge.

The creatively named Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ will hit UK shops from 4th September, but is available to pre-order now.

The handset features a bigger 5.7 inch Quad HD Super AMOLED dual edged screen, 16MP rear camera, 5MP front camera, 4GB of RAM (1GB more than the S6 Edge), faster wireless charging and comes with the latest Android Lollipop 5.1 operating system.

You can get the new handsets in either Sapphire Black or Platinum Gold and choose from 32GB or 64GB models. All are 4G-ready so you’ll need a 4G data contract to get the most from the devices.

We’ve taken a look at the cheapest handset-only prices for those that want the flexibility of a SIM-only contract and 4G pay monthly deals for those that would prefer to spread the cost.

Where to get the handset cheapest

With a SIM-free handset you can avoid being locked into a pay monthly contract, but you’ll have to fork out the cash to pay for the device upfront.

The recommended retail price of the latest Samsung handset is £749 for a 32GB model and £829 for a 64GB model.

O2 is selling the 32GB model on pay-as-you-go for £619.99, while you can get the handset SIM-free from Carphone Warehouse for £599.99 (32GB) or £679.99 (64GB). Buying the device through Carphone Warehouse before 30th September means you will get Google Play Music free for six months.

But the cheapest we’ve seen the S6 Edge+ so far is with mobilephonesdirect.co.uk which is selling the 32GB model for £583.99 and the 64GB model for £661.99.

What the networks are offering

Those short of cash to pay for the handset upfront can opt for a pay monthly deal instead.

Below is a roundup of what’s on offer from each of the major 4G providers and Carphone Warehouse for both models of the S6 Edge+.

Three

Three is offering both the 32GB and 64GB models of the S6 Edge+ on 24-month contracts for an upfront cost of £99.

All the deals come with 'all you can eat' minutes and texts and the choice of 1GB (only available for 32GB model), 4GB, 8GB or unlimited data.

The cheapest 32GB deal is £41 a month which comes with 1GB of data, while the cheapest 64GB deal is £50 a month and comes with 4GB of data.

The unlimited data option costs £53 a month for the 32GB model or £56 a month for the 64GB model.

Three is the only provider to offer unlimited 4G data plans, however its network is limited compared to other providers.

O2

O2 is only offering the 32GB model of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ on 24-month contracts, with upfront costs that range from £9.99 to £619.99.

They’re available on the network’s Refresh tariff, which separates the cost of the device from the airtime, which means you can upgrade easily and your monthly bills drop once the handset has been paid off.

The cheapest pay monthly deal is £13.50 with an upfront cost of £619.99, which gets you 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

The largest data allowance available with O2 is 20GB which you can get from £34 a month with a £619.99 upfront cost, which also comes with unlimited minutes and texts.

O2 customers get access to O2 Priority which provides exclusive access for tickets to concerts and offers regular freebies.

Tesco Mobile

Tesco Mobile, which uses O2’s network to provide its service, is offering the 32GB model on 24-month contracts and is the only provider to offer the handset with no upfront cost.

They’re available on its Anytime Upgrade deals, which like O2’s deals, separates the cost of the handset from the airtime allowing easy upgrades and ensuring monthly costs fall once the device has been paid for.

The cheapest pay monthly deal is £43.50 and gets you 2,000 minutes, 5,000 texts and 1GB of data.

The most data you can get with Tesco Mobile is 8GB, which is available for £55 a month along with 5,000 minutes and texts.

Tesco Mobile rewards you with Clubcard points on your monthly bills.

EE

EE is offering the 32GB model on 24-month contracts, with upfront costs which range from £29.99 to £349.99, some deals also come with 4GEE Extra which means you get double speed 4G.

The cheapest pay monthly deal costs £31.99 a month with a £349.99 upfront cost and comes with 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

The highest data allowance is 20GB, which you can get for £59.99 a month with a £29.99 upfront cost which also comes with unlimited texts and minutes.

Vodafone

Vodafone told loveMONEY it had not yet finalised direct pricing for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+.

We’ll update this piece when it does but for now you can see Vodafone deals available with third party suppliers like Carphone Warehouse.

Carphone Warehouse

Carphone Warehouse is offering deals on both the 32GB and 64GB models with O2, EE and Vodafone.

All the deals come with a free wireless charger worth £39.99 when you pre-order.
