Halifax has increased its welcome bonus for new current account holders. But it's only for a limited time, so you'll have to move quickly.

Halifax has increased its welcome bonus to new current account customers to £125.

Switch to the Halifax Current Account, Reward Current Account or Ultimate Reward Current Accounts and you'll enjoy the bigger cashback, which has been increased from £100. The only condition is that you’ll need to switch your account before 18th October.

Reward Current Account holders can earn a further £60 throughout the year with £5 monthly reward payments when they pay in a minimum £750, pay out two direct debits and stay in credit each month.

Online and mobile banking users can also earn cashback through top retailers with Cashback Extras.

Before you apply you can determine your likely eligibility for a current account or overdraft in under three minutes, without leaving a trace on your credit report.

[SPOTLIGHT]Halifax isn’t the only bank offering cashback for switching.

Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks are giving £150 to people who complete a full switch to one of their current accounts. It applies to Readycash, Current Account Plus, Current Account Direct, Current Account Control and Signature Current Account.

All you need to do is switch through the Current Account Switch Service, move two direct debits and put £1,000 into your new account within 31 days of completing the transfer.

Those who move to First Direct's 1st Account will get a £125 joining bonus if they use the Current Account Switch Service and pay in at least £1,000 within three months of their account opening. If you decide to leave within a year you’ll be credited with another £100.

The Co-operative Bank will also give you £100 for making a full switch and it will donate £25 to a selected charity of your choice. It applies to the Standard Current Account and the Current Account Plus, but you must put £800 in within the first 31 days to be eligible.

HSBC is giving switchers to its Advance Bank Account £100 and cashback, but there is a pretty major caveat: you need to pay a colossal £1,750 a month for the first couple of months to qualify for cashback. Your switching bonus will be paid into your account within 70 days of opening.

M&S Bank is a bit different in that you get a £100 M&S gift card when you switch to one of its current accounts.
