Best supermarket deals

I'm going to begin with the week's best deals at ASDA. In the fruit and veg aisle, you can currently pick up two 850g bags of Granny Smith apples for £2 (usually £1.57 each). This works out at around 8p per apple.

There's also a good offer on Branston tomato ketchup: 720g bottles are now reduced to £1, from £1.89.

Finally, if you're looking for party food, check out the deals on funsize Maltesers, Mars Bars, Twix and Magic Stars. Multipacks of these usually cost £2.33 each, but you'll currently pay just £3 for three bags.

Over at Sainsbury's, there are good 2 for 1 deals on bags of Cox apples, plum punnets eight-packs of satsumas. In the dairy section, there's still a great offer on McLelland Seriously Strong Cheddar; 400g packs have been reduced from £3.68 to £1.84.

The great deal on Ben & Jerry's ice cream (500ml) is still going strong: You can currently buy two pots for only £3.

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference British beef mince (500g) has been reduced from £3.19 to just £1.59. Several varieties of 10" Sainsbury's pizzas have been reduced from £3.49 to £1.74 each. And there's still a better-than-half-price deal running on many types of New Covent Garden Food Co. soup: 600g cartons have been reduced from £2.19 to £1.

At Tesco, this chocolate log has been reduced from £2 to £1. And if you want something a little healthier, there are still good 2 for 1 deals on juicing oranges, carrots, courgettes, stringless beans and tomatoes.

There are also good 2 for 1 deals on several varieties of Muller Fruit Corner, which mean you get 12 yoghurts for £2.90. And you can also pick up 500g tubs of Green & Black's organic ice cream for just £2, reduced from £3.99.

Finally, take a look at this couple of 'much better than half-price' Tesco deals: six-packs of prawn cocktail Skips are now reduced from £1.36 to 50p; and you can currently pick up 650g of tinned shortbread for £3, reduced from £8.

Good deals at Morrisons include 1.5kg of baking potatoes for 30p, and five-packs of satsumas for 30p. You can also pick up a litre of Tropicana juice for 83p, reduced from £1.67.

And finally... at Somerfield, you can currently pick up 900g jars of Quality Street for just £4.50 each, reduced from the usual £9.50.

Tipple

At ASDA, one litre bottles of Gordon's Gin have been reduced from £16.97 to £10; and one litre bottles of Smirnoff vodka from £16.84 to £10.

And at Sainsbury's, you can currently pick up 30 440ml cans of John Smith's Extra Smooth for £15.
