Frugal Food

This week we bring you better-than-half-price Christmas puddings and some great new spirits and wine deals. We also have a fistful of new restaurant vouchers, free tea and free chocolate truffles!

Welcome to Frugal food! Let's kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.

Best supermarket deals

This week, I'm going to start with the best offers at Sainsbury's. In the dairy section, there are good 2 for 1 deals on Pilgrims Choice Farmhouse Mature Cheddar, Philadelphia and various Shape yoghurts.

Elsewhere, this 2kg beef roasting joint is currently half-price at £8.98, and these two organic beef burgers are also half price, at £1.39. Finally, tins of Cadbury's Roses and Mars Celebrations have both been reduced again, from £10 to £5.

At Tesco, you can pick up various reduced Christmas treats including Mr Kipling Christmas Pudding reduced from £5 to £2, a big Tesco Finest Matured Christmas Pudding reduced from £10 to £5, and this chocolate Yule log reduced from £2 to £1.

Tesco is also doing good 2 for 1 deals on Pilgrims Choice cheddar, Philadelphia and Saint Agur cheese in the dairy aisle. And this Tesco Finest free range, corn fed whole chicken is now £4.90 (reduced from £9.79) but only until 6th December.

There's a great deal on Ragu cooking sauce: 500g jars are usually £1.69 each, but you can currently pick up two for just £1. And finally, Tesco has now picked up the 'cheap Ben & Jerry's' baton, selling 500ml tubs for only £1.99.

Over at ASDA, this ASDA Classic Christmas pudding has been reduced from £2.18 to £1. Several Goodfella's Delicia pizzas have been cut from £2.38 to just £1; and although four-packs of Heinz baked beans are usually £2.16, you can currently pick up eight tins for £2.

Morrisons is running an excellent offer on Mr Kipling mince pies: When you buy one £1.49 box, you get two boxes free!

At Somerfield you can pick up two 400g boxes of Cadbury's Heroes or Roses - or Nestle Quality Street - for just £5.

And finally at Netto - on 5th and 6th December only - you'll be able to pick up Terry's Chocolate Oranges for £1, reduced from £2.

There are sometimes much better deals on offer at street markets and independent shops than there are at the supermarkets. Unfortunately, their local nature makes it impossible for us to cover them properly here.

If you've come across a great food deal at your local market, please do leave a comment at the bottom of the article letting us know. That way, fellow readers in your local area can take advantage of the offer you've flagged up. Thanks!

Tipple

At ASDA, one litre bottles of Bombay Sapphire Gin have been reduced from £23.61 to £14. No expiry date has been given for this offer, so do check the link before heading out to the shops.

At Marks & Spencer, you'll currently get 25% off when you buy any six bottles of wine or champagne. The offer ends 6th December, and is available online and in-store.

You'll also get 25% off when you buy any six bottles of wine or champagne at Sainsbury's. This deal ends 8th December, and is available in-store only.

Finally, Morrisons still has many better-than-half price deals on wine and bubbly.
