Tesco cuts price of 150+ everyday items from today: all you need to know

Updated on 09 January 2024 | 0 Comments

The price cuts come just one day after Tesco announced a massive double Clubcard points promo.

Tesco has unveiled its second big promotion in as many days after it announced a raft of price cuts on everyday items.

The supermarket giant said it will be cutting more than 150 prices on groceries ranging from fresh fruit and veg to cupboard staples like coffee and cornflakes.

It comes just one day after Tesco announced a Clubcard promotion that will allow cardholders to earn double points when they shop over the next seven weeks, as we revealed in yesterday's loveMONEY newsletter.

We'll recap exactly how that will work later on in this article but first, we'll take a closer look at how much you can expect to save as a result of the new price cuts.

Tesco price cuts 2024: how much will I save?

While some prices have been cut by as much as 27%, the average saving across all the reduced items works out to 12.5%.

Tesco said it has focused on "products that families put in their trolleys week in, week out, spanning fresh fruit and veg as well as cupboard staples like coffee, bolognese sauce and cereal".

We've listed some of the savings you can expect to make below, but it's worth pointing out that you may end up paying more if you happen to shop in one of the smaller Express outlets instead of larger stores.

Similarly, prices may be higher if you shop through Whoosh rather than the traditional online Tesco deliveries.

Examples of Tesco price cuts

  • Tesco Strawberries (227g) – down 30p to £2.00;
  • Tesco Blueberries (250g) – down 35p to £2.65;
  • Tesco British Pork Sausages (8 pack 454g) – down 30p to £2.00;
  • Tesco Large pineapple (each) – down 50p to £1.30;
  • Tesco Gold Instant Coffee (200g) – down 50p to £2.50;
  • Tesco Squeezy Clear Honey (340g) – down 24p to £1.25;
  • Tesco Honey Nut Cornflakes – down 25p to £1.25;
  • Tesco Bolognese Pasta Sauce (500g) – down 16p to £0.79;
  • Tesco Sugarsnap Peas (180g) – down 20p to £1.10;
  • Tesco Baked Beans in Tomato Sauce (420g) – down 5p to 45p.

As we mentioned in yesterday's newsletter, Tesco has also launched a new Clubcard promotion.

We'll recap the details of how that works in the next section in case you missed it.

Tesco double Clubcard points promotion 2024

The Clubcard promotion will run until 25 February 2024.

It allows customers to earn double Clubcard points whenever they shop in-store, online or fill up at a Tesco petrol station.

The supermarket said it’s the first double Clubcard event it has offered in over a decade, with more than 10 billion points expected to be earned during the promotion period.

It added that shoppers will receive their vouchers in their next two Clubcard statements – either in February or May – or can choose to redeem them instantly with the faster vouchers service on the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app or online.

There are a few exclusions to be aware of if you’re planning to take advantage of the promotion.

Certain Tesco brands will fall outside of the promotion: primarily these include money spent at Tesco Bank, Tesco Mobile and Tesco Photos.

What’s more, tobacco, lottery, stamps, infant formula milk and gift cards are all excluded.

You can see the full terms and conditions on this Tesco page.
