Poll: should employers be banned from asking your current salary?

It’s been claimed the practice of asking prospective employees what they currently earn is trapping workers in low pay. Should it be banned? Vote in our poll.

If you’ve ever switched jobs, you’ve no doubt had that uncomfortable discussion about pay.

A company will want to know what you’re currently taking home before deciding what to offer you in return.

However, a charity has today called for the practice to be banned, claiming it traps workers (and women in particular) in low pay.

The Young Women's Trust suggests job adverts should include salary details in job adverts instead.
