OldHenry, are you saying that you NEVER use cash? It's certainly possible to use far less cash these days, but to say you never ever get money out of a hole-in-the-wall, I find that a bit of a stretch. Not only that, but the Royal Mint are still designing new coins and banknotes all the time, which suggests that a lot of people must still be using it.

Do people use cash still? What with teh con tactless card payment cash is almost unnecessary. Even bus fares can be paid by phone. Cash machines are handy for thieves to remove from the wall and cart off in and around Leicester so I suppose we need the ATM to keep the thieves in business.

The whole idea of an ATM is to allow you quick and easy access to your money without needing a human teller. Well the quick and easy bit has gone away if we need to become experts at spotting ATMs that have been tampered with! If banks want to do without tellers to dispense our money then they have to ensure the machines provided are tamper proof.
